Decay Under Bridge Leads to Replacement with Implants

Our patient presented with a loose bridge that was not comfortable and developing an odor. One of the teeth supporting the bridge had developed decay under the crown. Due to the extent of decay this tooth had to be extracted.

The first visit involves cutting the bridge to separate the two teeth. The fake middle tooth is removed as well since there is no support underneath and the decayed tooth is extracted. Since this patient decided to have the fake tooth replaced, a dental implant is inserted and will support a future crown once healed. The site where the decayed tooth was extracted will need to heal for a few months and will also be replaced with a dental implant.
